WHERE WE'VE BEEN

Our conservative approach in producing small runs of each style in the beginning was what allowed us to test our product, with as little waste as possible. We needed a way of ensuring the fit, feel, quality and reception from our customers was significant enough to produce these. We aren’t in the business of fast fashion & turning a profit won’t take precedent over what is ethical & sustainable in our production line.
The larger the business has become, the more opportunity we have had to expand our external team. We’ve always done our best to grow as a business alongside the growth in demand for our garments, and will continue to do so. In the past couple of months, we bunkered down - reviewed Mr Winston, what we think our customers want to see and wear and to support, our designs, and our point of difference.
A NEW MANUFACTURER
We are so excited that the support of Mr Winston from our customers to date has allowed us to move into a new phase of the business - by adding a new Ethical Clothing Australia accredited garment manufacturer. Based in Melbourne, our new manufacturing team responsibly sources Australian grown Cotton, knits this using equipment powered by over 1500 solar panels, and dyes this using water of which 80% is recycled and reused. From here material is washed, relaxed, cut & sewn into garments.
As a company who manufactures, waste is inevitable. There’s no simple nor quick solution to reducing our impact. What we can do, is manage our impact as carefully and considerably as we possibly can, whilst delivering for our customers. Alongside our new manufacturers, we are working to ensure as little of our production waste ends up in landfill as possible. Off cuts of materials discarded throughout our production line are collected, and re-purposed as twine for vegetable gardens, filling for mattresses, pet chew toys & stuffing for punching bags.
We are very grateful to be able to support local manufacturing in the production of many of our garments. There are of course limits to what we can access locally. Where this isn’t possible, we remain committed to ensure any offshoring is as ethical & sustainable as possible. Our commitment is to continually search for more sustainable manufacturing solutions, to constantly monitor, learn from & adapt our processes & to remain 100% transparent with our customers about changes along the way.
A NEW SIGNATURE PUFF HOOD
There’s been consistent evolution of our signature Sport Puff Hood design since we introduced this in January 2021. In recognising a high volume of adaptations of this logo style in the market, we concluded we wanted to customise ours even more. We’ve developed our own digital alphabet, derived from hand drawn lettering - this can be seen in our new ‘sport’ puff logo. In development over 4-5 months, the length, arm width, GSM weight, ribbing & fabric composition of our signature hood have all been reviewed.
Our new fleece hoods are made up of 100% Premium Australian Cotton. What we loved about our original hoods was the brushed inner that gave them their softness & warmth. This was something we didn’t want to sacrifice in the move to 100% Cotton, and thankfully we haven’t had to. This new iteration combines the highest quality of fleece, a new level of durability, and what we deem to be the perfect fit.
A NEW EXPERIENCE
With a new era for the business, comes a new home base for our team. We’ve moved from our temporary office into a space we will share more about once its complete - we are so excited for our customers to have the opportunity to interact with Mr Winston beyond a typical shopping experience. Stay tuned. 💌
